Do you run on empty??

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say... do you start off with a simple Styrofoam cup of orange juice and a bagel you picked up on the run between the train and the office ?

Or

Do you partake of a bounty of bacon , eggs , and English muffins. Fresh strawberry preserves or marmalade with a big glass of ice cold milk and a hefty cup of Jamaica blue coffee. All served on a sterling silver setting for four at your breakfast nook during conversation with other loved ones?

Do you run on empty???

Lunch time. Did it consist of a burger and fries with a can of cola for 5.99. And did you eat it while hunched over at your desk while pouring over reports of last weeks projected outlooks of what will happen two weeks from now , provided of course, that you sacrifice the plans you had this weekend of painting that picture of that woman who's face keeps appearing in your dreams, so that you can sit in front of your laptop, because this has to get done.

Or

Did you take that lunch that you made consisting of a lush green salad, with big chunks of tomato, turkey, ham, and chicken. Perfectly sliced slices of egg and just the right amount of pepper and a dressing that wasn't free of anything. And did you eat your lunch sitting on the steps of your office building, while conversing with others who had similar brown bags, discussing nothing in particular but taking in every moment , as you sat in the warmth of the sun listening to the old man on the corner playing his saxophone and asking only for an appreciative audience and a few coins.

Do you run on empty??

It's dinner time. Did you run in the house late because you stayed at the office for two or three extra hours. Did you pop your TV dinner in the microwave set up the TV table and tune in two the last half hour of that TV program that everyone will be discussing tomorrow around the water cooler? Will people fill you in anyway because after eating overdone mashed potatoes and underdone turkey, you fell asleep with your hand in the dessert.

Or

Did you leave work and take a lea surly stroll down to Michigan Ave. to that little boutique to purchase that outfit that you have been eyeing all week. Did you stop at your favorite bistro or café to meet up with friends to have a meal of smoked turkey, honey roasted ham , greens , sweet potatoes, mac and cheese , cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes smothered in brown rich gravy and for desert red velvet cake. Or maybe you and a friend stopped to have sushi and green tea, and then you went to the health club or maybe the last night of a museum show. And yes you know you have to get up and go to work tomorrow but you feel so full of life tonight it's worth the tired you will feel in the morning.

Do you run on empty ????

Did you have a late night visitor? A dark figure on a white horse who came to deliver you an invitation to a party we all have to attend sooner or later, a party that had no food.

Do you beg and plead for him to come back in ten minutes so that you could grab a bite to eat first, because you just had not gotten your fill today but instead ate just enough to keep going?

Or

Did you go to the party freely and happy knowing that you had gotten your fill for the day and you could not eat another bite.

Do you run on empty??
