ExploreLearning Gizmos and Reflex have both be recognized by the Academics’ Choice Awards in the category of Smart Media.
The independent Academics’ Choice Awards program and its seal of excellence are recognized worldwide by consumers and educational institutions as a mark of genuinely effective learning tools that stimulate the mind, and provide potential for the student to fully develop higher order thinking skills.
The Academics’ Choice Advisory Board consists of leading thinkers and graduates from Princeton, Harvard, George Washington University, and other reputable educational institutions. Product-appropriate volunteer reviewers, combined with the brainpower of the Board, determine the winners. Entries are judged by category, subject area, and grade level, and evaluated based on standardized criteria rooted in constructivist learning theory.
Of Reflex, one judge remarked: “My son and I really enjoyed Reflex. We did the demo and it was the perfect introduction to the app. I appreciated that it was game-like and fun. He almost forgot he was doing something he really doesn’t like. I appreciate that the game adapted to my son’s skill level and he was given a quick heads up if he got something wrong. Thank you for letting us review this wonderful product!”
Praise for Gizmos was equally effusive: “ExploreLearning Gizmos is a simulated scientific laboratory where students learn through reflection on doing (experiential learning) and gain tremendous conceptual understanding of real-world problems. The Gizmos are a real time-saver for teachers. They bring to life often difficult concepts for students in a way that makes them easy to understand. The fact that students can manipulate the Gizmos to see what happens makes the learning exploratory and retention is definitely increased.”
