A group of teachers is called a faculty. Sure– a faculty works together to teach students, but there’s so much more to this group. Faculty members write curriculum, plan lessons, and review academic growth data together. They cover one another’s classrooms and share ideas and snacks. They celebrate successes while lifting others when things go wrong. They laugh at inside jokes and cry over things that people outside of school just wouldn’t understand. Quite simply– your faculty is a group unlike any other! As administrators, you already know that.
There’s a shared connection from being part of a group.
Other groups also have special names, like faculty. Your ELA teachers call these collective nouns. Let’s have a little fun with the idea of groups. How many of these special group names do you know? Grab a blank sheet of paper and designate a team member to be the recorder. Keep that computer closed and work together as a group first! Don’t worry- there’s an answer key at the bottom!
